It should be noted that the accountability court of Islamabad has acquitted former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Miftah Ismail in the LNG reference NAB case. The LNG reference case was heard by Accountability Court judge Nasir Javed Rana. On this occasion, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi appeared in the court along with his lawyers.

During the hearing, Deputy Prosecutor Azhar Maqbool said that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is withdrawing the reference against Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. After NAB declared Shahid Khaqan Abbasi innocent, all the accused including Shahid Khaqan were acquitted.

Sources say that the decision to end the reference by NAB has been taken on merit. The request to drop the reference has been made by the former head of PSO.
